Douglas Meadow, with its landscaped open park and play area, is a special place to call home for families and couples alike. Set on gently sloping land with views across open countryside, Stewart Milne Homes’ latest collection of family homes enjoys a range of excellent amenities, conveniently located just four miles from Chorley. Find out more about the local area

With no fewer than eleven house styles to choose from, our stunning new homes have been designed to take full advantage of the surroundings, and the materials used have been selected to complement and blend comfortably with other homes in the locality.

Mr Karl Noblett and Miss Emily Turnbull

“Before we bought we had concerns around whether everything would be on time, but everything worked out fine.”

“Our home was finished before the completion date and they were really good at updating us along the way.”
Now that we’re living on Douglas Meadow we love that it’s off the main road so it’s nice and quiet, especially during the evenings and weekends. The development isn’t completely finished yet, but there is a small, grassy park. It’s a nice bit of green that’s lovely to look at.

Douglas Meadow is conveniently located and well connected.
The transport links here are quite close: the motorway is just a couple of miles down the road, the train’s around the corner and there are lots of bus routes. We’re also close to shops, so we have all we need nearby. There’s a Co-op, Tesco Express, bakery, sweet shop, hairdressers and a few pubs and restaurants. We have everything available here if we just need some groceries or want to go out for the evening.

I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because everything has been smooth and the process was quick. The specification of the house is high compared to the other homes we looked at with the different developers.

Mr and Mrs Gerry and Linda Yarwood

“Douglas Meadow is quite spacious compared to other developments.”

“When you come into the estate the first thing you see is the playground.”
There’s a nice, big grassy area, and opposite to our plot they are continuing to landscape the area. It’s all very well maintained; they put in some flower beds and the grass is always well cut. In front of our house there’s a valley with trees and they’ve used the local area well by building around it, rather than spoiling it by building over it. Phase three is on the other side of the trees, so in the summer we won’t see them at all. Once the development is finished we can see it being quite a nice, quiet place to live.

“We’re in a three-bedroom semi, which from the front doesn’t look very big, but when you come inside you can see they’ve made the best use of the space.”
They’ve designed the inside very well, especially the nice landing with the rooms coming off it. Our friends came to visit us at the weekend and they were quite amazed, saying it had been done especially well. We’ve downsized quite considerably and the space really attracted us to the house.

“We looked at an awful lot of developments in the area and this was our favourite.”
We’re situated off a main road, but not a very busy one, and there’s convenient access to a bus route here. We were walkers before we came here and where we lived before we had to take a car ride everywhere to go walking. Now we can enjoy walking to the Leeds / Liverpool canal one way, and the other way we can walk up into the hills - all direct from our house.

I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because of the service and the design of the home.

Mrs Catherine Atherton

“Douglas Meadow gives you the option of living the quiet, rural life while being just down the road from towns and cities.”

“I know the area well and watched Douglas Meadow being built as my parents live across the road and I drove past it every day.”
Douglas Meadow is in a quiet and picturesque location. We are surrounded by hillsides, greenery and natural countryside. The area is nice and rural, with trees and fields and even a farm quite near us.

“Douglas Meadow has some lovely greenery and landscaping on the development, the way Stewart Milne Homes has designed it is very thoughtful.”
Stewart Milne homes have taken care with the landscaping on the development, including two ponds that are taking shape and a park - these both really add to the feel of the area. I love the general landscaping they have done, even putting trellis around the substation with plants and climbers surrounding it.

“Douglas Meadow is in a rural but convenient area with amenities on your doorstep.”
Douglas Meadow is situated in quite a small village so you have the convenience of the local Co-op and Tesco with a big retail park only a couple of miles down the road. There’s a great choice of local amenities, including lots of pubs and a whole array of restaurants on the doorstep. It’s such a quiet location but as it’s quite close to the motorway, Manchester is not far away so you have the option of local amenities or a busy city centre.

I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because the service was so good and they really do look after you. If you have any problems Stewart Milne Homes sort them out straight away or get everything booked in so you know when everything will happen.
Mr Jordan Griffith

“It’s a safe area, a good build quality and Customer Service is pretty quick to resolve any issues.”

“The finish of the homes is modern and consistent throughout the development.”
The layouts are well thought out, making the rooms quite well lit, bright and open. It’s a timber frame build and I’m happy that there have been minimal issues for a new build. You always expect to find things, and anything I found here was minor and resolved quickly by Stewart Milne Homes.

Douglas Meadow feels open and safe.
It’s a low crime area anyway, but the open space planned into the development means that everything is easily visible without being obtrusive for anyone. That makes it feel secure. On top of that, everything is very well maintained. The communal gardens have been thoughtfully planted, are kept neat and the grass is cut regularly. The children’s playground is always kept nice and tidy too. They do really seem to keep on top of it.

I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because I haven’t come across any substantial issues and the home is well built.
Miss Heather Turner

“Looking at estates by other developers I could tell I’d be overlooked and feel claustrophobic; driving past Douglas Meadow, I saw immediately that there was such a lot of open space.”

“Spacious, clean and tidy, Douglas Meadow has a good feel.”
This isn’t a massive estate and the wide pavements, adequate parking, room around the houses and lovely communal areas make it a really pleasant place to live. In other developments I saw it seemed like I’d be living in a car park. In the morning when I look outside my window I can see some work guys pass, so I know they are there, but I can never hear them or see them working. I know they are using machinery, such as forklift trucks, but it’s like they aren’t there at all. It’s so quiet and peaceful here.

“The green grass and the nice touch of flowers make the estate colourful, and the play area at the front gives it a family feel.”
When my friends come over with their two children, the kids can play and have fun while we have a good catch up at the play park. In the future I’m thinking of having children myself and I think this is a nice area that has a safe vibe because it’s so open and quiet. With the well maintained gardens and communal areas, it’s just completely different from what I’ve seen in the past.

“The location is key.”
Just at the bottom of my road is a bus stop, so I can hop on the bus or get a train into town to do what I need to do. If I’m going out with friends at night, I don’t have to worry about a taxi, and if I need something simple, like milk, it’s just a five minute walk to the shop up the road. The doctor’s office is in walking distance too, so I have everything I need.

I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes…
…because of the customer service I received. They kept me up to date and I’m happy with the house. Anything I asked to be done, was done.
Mr Christopher Tonge

“We’d had a new home previously and had had a bad experience, so we did quite a lot of looking around and speaking with people who had a Stewart Milne Home; from what we discovered we were happy that the quality would be good.

“There seems to be a very good community feel here and this has been helped by the way they’ve designed the development.”
It’s welcoming driving into the estate. You don’t drive straight into a mass of houses; there’s a play area and a nice, green park area, so it feels open and spacious. They’ve managed to retain a lot of existing trees around the edge of the development, so it doesn’t feel stark. The design, layout and quality of the houses here is excellent, and they are all in a nice, soft, green space.

“The way they conducted themselves from a sales perspective at the front end, and then our experience with the site team, only reinforced our confidence in them.”
The sales team and the site team communicated with each other and with us, so the whole package was really very good, and the focus on the customer from the site guys has been outstanding. It’s inevitable that there will be problems in a new house, but they’ve been very understanding of the fact that it can be an inconvenience, so they’ve responded very quickly. They have let me know what they will be doing, when it will be done, and then they’ve checked the work after it’s been completed. I’m in the industry and I’d class this as outstanding.

I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes…
…because they have been so attentive during the process of buying and moving in.
