‘Living at Mill Green we’ve found exactly what we wanted’...
It’s very picturesque, a beautiful place, quiet and safe; very family friendly. There are a couple of local pubs nearby, and yet you’re a short train ride to Manchester, whilst Buxton’s only half an hour away.
Mill Green - the luxury of space
We really like the luxury of space. We lived in a one-bed flat in the city before. All of a sudden, we have three bedrooms and a loft. We’ve also got a big green right in front of us. It’s a wonderful place to raise a family. Everything’s geared up towards our baby. That’s why we enjoy it, because it provides for her.
Well-thought-out layout
The build quality is really good; and the layout is good as well. Things like the bedrooms are all a good size. Sometimes with a new build, you find one big room and one that can barely be called a room at all. Also, the living room is very spacious. Stewart Milne have acted on previous feedback and reduced the size of the utility room to increase the living room, which is good. We’ve got a shower unit and separate bath as well, which is ideal with a young baby. It’s all very well thought out.
When we say the after-care is good we really mean it
The after-care’s really good. We’ve had a few minor things, which you expect with a new build, and Stewart Milne have been really quick to act on everything. The other day my wife drove over a kerb that was sticking out. Stewart Milne said they’d fix it straight away and they even paid for my wife’s tire to be fixed as well.
I’d absolutely recommend Mill Green
I’d absolutely recommend Mill Green. It’s got everything you could want for starting up a family. And buying from Stewart Milne, it’s a well-oiled machine. There’s always someone who can answer your questions. They are quick to respond and carry out all the work that needs doing. That’s why I’d recommend it.

When I first saw Mill Green it was winter, it had been snowing; but I just thought ‘I could live here’...
And, nearly a year on, Mill Green is everything I thought it would be.
Mill Green – a magical setting
It’s just so peaceful here, such a lovely setting. You’re in the back of beyond, but the station is less than a mile away. You can hear the peacocks and the lambs. There are badgers too. People often remark on how magical it is, because of the woods and wildlife all around.
You have to see it to believe it
Mill Green isn’t your usual development. It’s got lots of character, like the dovecote in the middle of the pond. And because you’ve open countryside to the back of the houses, there’s nothing to stop you building on. I’ve extended at the back with an orangery and it’s so amazing words can’t do it justice. It’s simply fabulous.
Building a community not just houses
There’s a strong sense of community here. Every week something seems to be happening, be it table tennis or yoga at the Pavilion, or Father Christmas arriving by plumed horse and carriage. It’s thanks in part to Strines Residents’ Association, which is very active. Everybody’s friendly and up for new ideas to regenerate the old buildings. They’ve recently purchased a clock tower with a view to placing it in the centre of the complex for all to see.
It’s a nice, safe area for children as well. There’s plenty of space to play outside. And the neighbours are lovely. You can just knock on people’s doors and ask for help. That extends to the local businesses too. When I wanted a container to put some plants in, for the community, I asked a local business whether I could have an old one of theirs that hadn’t been used in about 10 years. The man there said, ‘I’ll do better than that. I’ll give you three.’ That’s the kind of place it is.
Stewart Milne staff who are quick to respond
The great thing with Stewart Milne is that there’s always someone at the other end of an email. And the site manager, Nick’s, been particularly good. He’ll respond to whatever I need. Sue at the beginning was very, very good as well because she kept me updated on the progression of the house; likewise Eleanor and Jo.
I’d definitely recommend Mill Green
I’d recommend Mill Green to anyone. As soon as more people purchase here then the sooner we can all make it an even stronger community and more important place to live. When I come home, I love it. You can’t ask for more than that.

Buying a house is a big thing. You obviously want the workmanship to be reliable as well as the location to be nice...
And as soon as we saw the property and spoke to Eleanor at Stewart Milne any worries we might have had were put to bed.
Helpful staff to smooth the way
Eleanor put us at ease right from the first meeting. She was on hand to help from start to finish. We quickly built up rapport and the whole move went smoothly without any hiccups, even down to the part exchange. Stewart Milne gave us a good offer, which made it affordable.
Mill Green offers luxurious living in the space of the countryside
The location of Mill Green is great. It’s a bit further from the city, but worth it. You’re in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by deer and rabbits. It’s a peaceful environment in which to come home to at the end of the working day. It makes it all worthwhile. We also really like the way the estate’s been planned. It’s a small estate and been done really nicely with the car park at the back, so you don’t see any cars out front. It’s even got its own tennis court, which is really good.
Quite simply, a beautiful house
What drew us to the house was its colour. We really liked the stonework and the way it looked from the outside. What’s more, having bought the show home, it was done up really nicely inside. It was just ready to move in.
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Stewart Milne Homes
We’ve been in our new home coming up to three months now. With it being brand new, you expect some teething problems, but we’ve not had many. Any issues we have had, you just speak to Stewart Milne and it’s done and dusted. We’ve had no problems, which is why we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anybody.

We’d done our research so we knew that Stewart Milne had a good reputation…
And now that we’ve moved in, I can say from experience that you can’t fault the build quality at all.
The perfect family home
We needed a larger house, one with four bedrooms and kitchen, living area and separate lounge, which would accommodate our growing – and in some cases grown-up – children. We really like that we have two en-suites as well as a family bathroom. The layout was just right for us.
In the perfect family location
We lived locally anyway, but what we really like about Mill Green is the extra facilities it offers our younger one. It’s perfect for families: quiet, but you have the club house and the playground and the paths around. The situation is just lovely with the greenery and the rivers. That really helped sell it to us.
Helpful and friendly staff who made the whole process pleasant
Nothing was too much trouble for the guys on site. Whether it be Nick, the site manager, or Eleanor and Jo in the sales office, they were keen and interested. It wasn’t just a case of, ‘Right, sign here’. They were friendly and helpful and made the whole process informal and pleasant. You can tell that they’re proud of who they work for and want to do well. Nick in particular is very proud of what he does. Any problems, he was straight round and it was sorted. He was really on the ball.
I would recommend Stewart Milne without hesitation
I would recommend Stewart Milne without hesitation. The house has been well done. It’s a good quality build in a lovely location. That’s why I’d recommend them.

We looked for a long time before finding our new home...
and we’re so glad we made the move to Mill Green. In the end it was really quite easy. We did a part exchange so we didn’t have to wait for our house to be sold. It all tied in perfectly.
A sea of green
We wanted to move to this area because my husband’s local. It’s a gorgeous location, perfect for our young child and the dog. You look out of the back window and just see green; within two minutes you’re in the countryside.
Nice community feel
Mill Green has a nice community feel to it, even though it’s a new development. I’m impressed with what Stewart Milne have put into the community. They’ve done up the tennis courts and pavilions and put in a brand-new children’s playground. It’s really nice. It’s been a good move.
The perfect family home
We really love the layout of our new home. It’s nice and spacious as you walk in; and because it’s open plan the layout makes it feel bigger. We have a combined kitchen/diner, which is ideal for our young son as he has lots of room. But we also have a separate room where we can shut the door, which is great for the dog.
Excellent customer service
The customer service has been excellent. From the sales person right the way through, they couldn’t do more for us. They’ve been so helpful. Any little things that needed tweaking or changing, they just did. It was no hassle at all.
I would definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes; in fact I already have
I’ve already suggested to friends that they should move to Mill Green. Stewart Milne are really good to work with and the houses are lovely, which is why I’ve recommended.

Moving from London to Manchester, we wanted something that was a bit more rural...
Mill Green proved to be the ideal location, offering the best of all worlds: beautiful countryside, a ‘villagey’ feel and yet within commuting distance of Manchester.
So much space!
We chose our new home, a three-storey townhouse, because we felt it was more spacious than others we were looking at. The key selling point was the downstairs – an open-plan kitchen/dining/ living area with French doors out to the back garden. We’ve also got an additional separate living area upstairs as well, so it’s great to have so much space.
The best of all worlds…
The location of the development is what really clinched it for us. We’re 15 minutes from Stockport, half an hour on the train from Manchester, and yet in the midst of really beautiful countryside, giving us the flexibility that we wanted.
The part exchange made things very easy for us
The service we received from Stewart Milne Homes was very good, and the sales staff in particular were very helpful. We liked the house as soon as we saw it, but had to sell our flat in Hertfordshire first. Stewart Milne Homes were proactive in offering a very attractive part-exchange deal, which made everything very easy for us.
I would recommend Stewart Milne Homes without reservation
If someone were to ask me whether I’d recommend Stewart Milne Homes, I’d have no reservations in doing so as we’ve had no problems. We’re very happy with both the house and the area and that’s why we would be happy to recommend.

Doing a part exchange, I was concerned that Stewart Milne Homes would come in with something really low for our old property...
but they offered a fair price. I have to say that I was surprised by that.
Guests just love our kitchen/diner
We were looking at other 3-bedroom properties but they weren’t big enough. This one offered much more space and we loved the kitchen/diner. That made it for us. It’s a big space, great for entertaining; it’s the thing that guests like the best when they come round. There’s lots of room and it’s bright. It’s just really lovely. The design of the kitchen makes it as well.
Stewart Milne really value their customers
The service from the members of staff on site was very helpful. They made an effort to speak to us and answer all our questions, calling back if need be. My husband and I both work so when it came to being shown around the property and having all the appliances and heating and everything demonstrated, the site manager stayed late and waited for us as we couldn’t get here earlier. They were really flexible and gave us time. We felt our custom was valued.
Apartments are included in the part exchange
Stewart Milne include apartments in their part exchange deal. Very few other builders do that. It’s partly why we bought from them. The part exchange scheme worked very well. Without that, we couldn’t have moved.
I would certainly recommend Stewart Milne Homes, particularly their part exchange scheme
I would certainly recommend Stewart Milne Homes, particularly their part exchange scheme if someone couldn’t sell their property. Part exchange is ideal as it allows you to move house. Also Stewart Milne’s service is very good, which is why I’d recommend.

I was concerned that a new-build wouldn’t be as solidly built as an old Victorian house...
but having lived in not one but two Stewart Milne Homes in the past year, I can vouch that everything’s been absolutely fine. Plus there’s been no maintenance involved.
Mill Green – an unusual and appealing estate
I knew the area already as we lived 100 yards away from our new house previously; but even if we hadn’t lived nearby, Mill Green would still have appealed. It’s because the estate is so small and it’s in a rural area. You’re surrounded by trees, which is unusual for a new estate.
‘X’ marks the spot
I did a part exchange with Stewart Milne Homes back in July as they hadn’t yet built the house I really wanted. I then moved into this house five months later. Doing a part exchange made it so easy. I wanted a detached house, which is what I’ve now got.
Anything we’ve asked for has been sorted out
The best thing about Stewart Milne is their Site Manager, Nick; he’s fantastic! Anything we’ve asked for, he’s sorted it out. You don’t expect everything to be right with a brand-new house, but he’d send someone round that same afternoon to fix anything that needed doing. He even helped me change the design of my new home. I wanted a family room and Nick did all the negotiating to ensure that they knocked the wall down between the kitchen and the dining room. He helped make it happen.
I would certainly recommend Stewart Milne Homes
I would certainly recommend Stewart Milne Homes, because of the personal service you receive and that it’s been so easy, so smooth. We’ve had no issues or hiccups, which is why I’d recommend.

I’d never bought a new home before and was slightly worried that there’d be loads of snagging issues to sort out...
but I’m really happy with the purchase. There were some minor snagging issues, but Stewart Milne Homes were really good at sorting them out; it was all done quite quickly.
Very good value for money
It was the price that initially drew us to looking at Stewart Milne. You get very good value for money, but that’s not just my opinion; my guests think that too. We did a part exchange and were very happy with it. From the beginning, Stewart Milne explained all the details and followed our requests. The marketing service and the builders themselves were very helpful and the sale moved quite fast.
For lovers of the quiet life
The location was also definitely a draw. We didn’t want to overlook some industrial facility. We’re near the station so can commute by train rather than car. It’s very convenient. Strines is a very nice village. It’s not on the radar of most ‘posh area’ seekers for some reason, but it’s perfect if you love the quiet life, as you’re surrounded by the beautiful British countryside.
I would definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes
I would definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes, because of everything I’ve said above; also because they’ve been good for us. It’s been a positive experience buying from Stewart Milne, which is why I’d recommend.
