Vision: closer than you might think
When we first looked at Vision, we thought it was a lot further out than it actually is. We’re only 2 or 3 miles from the city centre, so it’s accessible for work and socialising. We’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere. We can be in town in five minutes. Other places we were looking at were just that wee bit further out of town.
Spacious and well designed
For us, space was important, so we liked the flat’s open plan kitchen/living room. And being on the top floor we have good views of the countryside from our living room. We’re really happy with the interior as well. The workmanship’s really good. We’ve had no issues at all since we moved in.
Friendly staff who can answer all your questions…
Being first-time buyers we had loads of questions, but we were never made to feel stupid. We were dealing with Amanda and then with Edith when Amanda went on maternity leave. Both of them really put our minds at ease. They had clear answers for everything and helped clarify the process, which is what you want, especially as a first-time buyer. We’d been told that moving would be stressful and difficult, but it was seamless. Perhaps we got lucky, but the whole process was really easy, easier than it should have been going by what people had told us beforehand!
…And who go above and beyond
The staff are so helpful. When our fridge wasn’t working, we were told it would take two weeks to be replaced. But within the hour Edith had located a fridge for us to use in the interim, even though it wasn’t technically her concern. We were so impressed by that.

We looked at other house builders, but they weren’t offering anything like the same value for money. Initially I didn’t think we’d be able to afford it. But we popped by Vision and the show home was just stunning. Then we put in a call to Lifetime Planning and got a deal agreed in principle very quickly. In fact, from seeing the show home to reserving our house took just five days.
So much space; how will we fill it?
We love the design, especially the outdoor raised decking area. That was the selling point. You get this overall feeling of space from the moment you walk in. In fact, we now have so much space that our only concern is how to fill it! No way did I think we’d be living in a house of this size. I’m still getting over the shock. Everyone who comes round can’t believe the space we have either.
Amazingly helpful staff
The people on site couldn’t have been better. Edith in the sales office was never anything other than amazingly helpful and Gus and Gordon and their team couldn’t do enough for you either. They were really concerned to see that we settled in. I needed help getting a suite into the dining room and they offered to lift it with a forklift truck over the balcony. No sooner was it said than it was done. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Everyone who’s come round to see the house has commented on how nice it is. If any of them were looking to move, and were in the situation we were in, I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes. We used to go round my wife’s parents, but now they come round to ours. It’s because it’s so large and such a nice place to be.

We got off to a good start with Stewart Milne and, from Sales to Completion, it’s just got better and better...
Even now we’ve moved in we still feel supported.
No pushy sales talk
We were looking at a few different properties. The first thing I noticed was that there was no pushy sales talk involved. Amanda was very informative, very competent and helpful, and that definitely made us more interested in buying from Stewart Milne. The Part Exchange Manager, Jordan, was very helpful as well. You never felt you were given wrong information. They made it a pleasant experience. We felt guided through the process rather than being left on our own to make the decision.
Not a normal town house
It’s not a normal town house. It’s very spacious. The kitchen is huge and there’s a deck area outside which is ideal for our small son. There’s a separate dining room as well on the first floor, but it doesn’t feel like it’s in a silo, because the hall in between is so generous. You get lots of storage space as well, which for us was a definite must when buying a new house. We especially like having the floor-to-ceiling wardrobes and additional space in the boiler room.
The people make the difference
It’s the people who make the difference. I know everybody by their first names (and I’m normally very bad at remembering!). Every builder tries to make the best product possible, but what sets Stewart Milne apart is the individuals working for them. The product is really good, but it’s the people you liaise with on a regular basis that makes the difference.
Over and beyond what’s required
We had a couple of snagging issues but they were dealt with straight away by Gus and Gordon. They were rectifying things on a regular basis and just checking to make sure we were OK. They went over and beyond what was required. For instance, we managed to lock ourselves out on the second day and Amanda was very helpful. Stewart Milne got us resolved within an hour.

If I’d known how easy it would be…
At times we didn’t think it would ever happen. But Amanda and Jordan at Stewart Milne made the whole process very easy. From the outset they guided us. Amanda told us to phone Lifetime Planning to get a mortgage and Jordan helped sell our old flat very quickly. They made it so easy. In fact, if I’d known how easy it was I’d have done it years ago.
Lots of space; lots of storage
We needed a two-bedroom property coming from a one-bedroom flat. We really liked the high standard of finish, especially in the kitchen and bathroom. For the size, the space and the storage you get, we’re really, really happy. It’s excellent.
Good for work and play
Location was the main reason for choosing this site. It’s close to work and family. It’s got very good transport links as well. We’ve noticed a few other families around and thought that it would be a really good place to bring up a child as it’s safe and secure and not on a main road.
Exceptional service
The staff are all so eager to help, from sales right the way through to the site managers and workers on site. They offer a personal touch. Any problems, I’ve come home from work to find it’s been done. I didn’t expect that. The after-sales has been fantastic; I’ve never had this kind of service before.

I would definitely recommend Stewart Milne because it’s just been so easy. In fact, once we grow out the flat and want to move on, one of my first steps will be to look at purchasing one of their houses. We’ve just been so happy with the whole process. That’s why I’d recommend them.

Being a new build we thought that the rooms might be a lot smaller than in traditional houses...
but we’re really happy. The size of the rooms is a lot more than we anticipated. The house exceeded our expectations.
A design for [modern-day] life
We bought a three-bedroom townhouse, but we’ve got two spare rooms on the ground floor that you could use as bedrooms or as extra living space. We’ve also got a really big open plan kitchen / family room on the middle floor and a separate lounge. I really like the layout and its size. It was also good to be able to pick exactly what you wanted in the kitchen and bathroom. Having lived in an older property before, I hadn’t had that luxury. In fact, if I had to choose just one thing it would be that, having a kitchen and bathroom that suits our needs.
Part exchange? No problem!
We had a flat to sell and I wasn’t sure whether we would be able to sell in time, but Stewart Milne offered us a part exchange, so that took some of the worry away. In the end, it worked out OK. The house we’ve got is absolutely value for money.
Close to the city and to the outskirts too
We lived in the area before so we knew the location. It’s really good for access to the city centre (there are plenty of good bus routes) and also for the outskirts of Aberdeen as well. You’re not too far from the countryside, but close enough to the city centre.
You’re not just another number
I think that when you buy from a builder you’re always worried you might be just another number to them, but I never got that opinion at all dealing with Stewart Milne. Amanda on the sales side was so good. She explained the process so well and Darren, the site manager, helped us settle in. Any small issues have been dealt with really quickly. We’ve just picked up the phone and they’ve been dealt with. That has definitely been the best aspect of buying from them.

Handy location
We chose the house for its location. It’s really handy for both of us workwise and also for the amenities. It’s on a main road so is easy to get in and out. It’s handy for the centre of Aberdeen as well.
Just so easy moving in
It was just so easy moving in, very straight forward. We were given a date and there was no ambiguity. The date we were given was the date we moved in. We were also quite impressed with the demonstration tour before we moved in. It gave us an idea beforehand of where we were going to put things. It was good. It’s also nice to move in somewhere which doesn’t need additional work.
