About Lytham, Ansdell, Fairhaven and St Annes-on-Sea

Lytham St Annes is a seaside town in the borough of Fylde, Lancashire. It is located on the Fylde coast on the Ribble Estuary and is made up of the four areas of Lytham, Ansdell, Fairhaven and St Annes-on-Sea.

Perhaps best known for its superb golf courses, Lytham St Annes has hosted the Open Championship 11 times at the world-renowned Royal Lytham & St Annes Club.

Located on a beautiful stretch of England’s coastline, the town is also ideally situated close to Blackpool’s famous bright lights.

It boasts a range of superb seaside attractions and local amenities including a beautiful sandy beach, an historic Victorian pier and award-winning beach huts as well as an excellent selection of leading retail outlets and niche independent shops for the committed shopper.

Alongside their enduring appeal as classic seaside tourist destination, both Lytham and St Annes are popular locations for a wide range of events.

The Lytham Festival began life as a one-day music event but has now grown into one of the UK’s most popular celebrations of live music. Now a five-night extravaganza attracting thousands of visitors, the event pulls in headliners such as Tom Jones, Faithless, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Nile Rodgers and Madness.

By contrast, every August, Lytham wallows in nostalgia and history as it relives the wartime era with a weekend devoted to classic Forties songs, dancing and big bands, battle re-enactments, weapons displays, historic vehicles and vintage traders.

In September, the sky is the limit as enthusiasts flock to the St Annes Kite Festival which sees kites of all shapes and sizes take to the air. Visitors can also breeze into Lytham Windmill and Lifeboat Museum, with evocative exhibits spread across five floors including a lifeboat dating back to 1901.

Lytham Hall, a stately home located in beautiful surroundings, offers tourists an absorbing history of the local area as well as a range of events including outdoor theatre.

Lytham Heritage Centre provides a diverse programme of heritage and art exhibitions throughout the year, giving visitors a fascinating insight into local history and culture.

The Lowther Pavilion Theatre is one of the area’s leading entertainment venues hosting a wide range of touring shows, stand-up comedy, music, and other events.

One of the area’s finest outdoor places, Lowther Gardens is also Lytham’s oldest park and the ideal location to take time out, have a coffee or enjoy some family fun and games in a children’s play area with crazy golf, bowling and tennis courts.

Fairhaven Lake sits between Lytham and St Annes and is another great place to watch the world go by, enjoy the local wildlife or take a boat out on the pond. As well as Adventure Golf and a playground, there’s a café and an RSPB Discovery Centre with a wonderful variety of birds on site.

Lytham is located close to the main M55 motorway and there’s a direct route into the town as well as easy access to Blackpool and Preston. The town has two railway stations - Ballam Road, near Lytham Hall and Ansdell and Fairhaven station which is located close to the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club and has a regular service to Blackpool North, as well as Kirkham, Preston and Colne. The Blackpool tramway service also runs to Squires Gate at the southern edge of Blackpool and connects with the bus service to St Annes and Lytham.

Lytham has a wide selection of highly rated primary and secondary schools including Our Lady Star of the Sea, Ansdell and Clifton primaries and Lytham St Annes High School and St Bede’s Catholic High School.New Build Homes in Lytham St Annes
