The Location

Excellent schools are located in and around Bishopton with the local non-denominational primary school being located within the village and well-regarded Park Mains and Trinity High schools and St John Boscoe RC primary schools located in nearby Erskine.

Dargavel Village is within walking distance of the ‘park and ride’ railway station, providing easy access to Glasgow city centre in 16 minutes. Glasgow Airport is a 10 minute drive away, as is the M8 (leading to Glasgow and Greenock) and the Erskine Bridge (gateway to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs). There are new M8 links into Bishopton currently being built. Glasgow city centre is a 26 minute drive away and there are frequent trains from Bishopton train station to Glasgow central station, which take 25 minutes.
Around and about
- You can enjoy many lovely walks within the village and the surrounding area, including through Boden Boo woodland, along the Clyde Coast in Port Glasgow and beside the long established ponds within the village itself.
- A country park – Central Park – is planned, which will provide a community woodland area and leisure facilities.
- A primary school and shops are planned for the new village.
- A 15 minute drive will take you to Xscape, Braehead, Port Glasgow and Linwood retail outlets.
- Loch Lomond is just over a half hour drive away from Bishopton, offering beautiful, scenic walks for the family. Immerse yourself in an underwater adventure at Loch Lomond Aquarium, or visit the bird of prey centre.
- Enjoy a relaxing day at Mar Hall spa, only a 6 minute drive away from Dargavel village.
- Soak up the stunning views over the Firth of Clyde from Newark Castle, which dates back to the 14th century, only a 15 minute drive away.
- Soar at Intu Braehead offers an action-packed days and is a 20 minute drive away. The indoor leisure complex offers a range of activities, from their climbzone and indoor ski slopes to a cinema, bowling and restaurants.
- Braehead shopping centre is located next to the leisure complex and features 110 shops.
