Testimonials

Mrs Carolanne Coll Testimonial
“It’s a lovely house and we’re very happy to have bought it.”
“It’s new, spacious and modern.”
We love the downstairs kitchen, dining, lounge area and the bedrooms are very comfortable. The master en-suite double shower is something to book the house for just in itself. Coming from a two-bedroom semi-detached house, we moved primarily to have more space and to be able to have a dedicated room as an office. A big difference for us here is that we have space for visitors. In the short time we’ve stayed here we’ve had more visitors compared to where we lived before. We’re also glad we moved because of the lockdown. We have a bit more space to swing a cat in. It’s a positive we’ve moved given the circumstances.
“They always looked really good in comparison to other builders’ homes, but what got me was the location of this Stewart Milne Homes site.”
Living here makes a big difference to us for both work and socialising. Although I’ve always been quite attracted to the homes they build, this is also a great area to live in. Previously, the commute to Glasgow was forty minutes longer, so moving here has cut the time right down which is great for our quality of life.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because the house is beautiful.

“Dargavel Village II is very well thought out; as a shared surface development you’re aware you’re in a family space that kids will be in.”
“It’s aesthetically pleasing outside of the house, and a lot of other developers wouldn’t put money towards doing that.”
There are grassed areas, plenty of areas for kids to play or kick a ball around, and places they can use their bikes. There are lots of walks and cycle paths to get out and about on and enjoy the outside space. The streets are designed in a clever way with soft curves and trees that that naturally slow traffic down, so you feel safe. They’ve spent a lot of time positioning the houses, so everyone has a nice view and there are a lot of local amenities that have been put in recently like a Sainsbury’s, a barber and a café. It’s very good for families.
“It’s very good value for money.”
My house is very functional, and I didn’t have to pay a lot of money to get it that way. My sister is buying off another developer. She came around to see my home and she was surprised how many things were included in the price. We got additional lighting points, additional TV points and plenty of sockets to make it a practical and flexible place to live in.
“The Stewart Milne Homes staff have been really good from buying the house to moving in.”
It worked exactly how we wanted it to. Since we moved into the house Greg, the Site Manager, has been fantastic. He's always been a phone call away and he's dealt with any problems or queries we had immediately. We bought the house knowing we would be on a building site, but at the same time they made it as easy as possible and they have certainly worked around us rather than us working around them. They’ve been very courteous.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because I've been happy with the process.

“Dargavel Village is vibrant, elegant and it has character.”
“They created a real community.”
The whole development is very well kept, and it’s all very easy on the eye. The houses are excellent quality; they are clean, fresh and very, very modern. I think they have a certain element of class in the small things like the brickwork, to the way the driveways are laid out to the turf. With the rivers behind us it’s almost picture perfect. We’re proud of our home, and we still get the same feeling walking through our front door that we’re in a nice, well-kept house.
“We had concerns buying a property off plan as we couldn’t see the finished article.”
We were concerned with how it was going to look as we bought one of the first houses of this type. We were worried about the potential snagging of the house, how the brickwork would look and how the rooms were going to stack up. When we saw it, it certainly met or exceeded those expectations in real life.
“We’re far enough secluded to be in a rural location, but not far from the urban life of the city centre.”
We’re in a nice, quiet village with grass areas and lakes, and there’s countryside around us with farmland and walkways that stretch for miles. It’s nice to have a bit of nature around you, and it’s rare to have it where we are in Glasgow. Ingliston Country Club is also behind us with the equestrian centre. We’re fifteen to twenty minutes from the city centre, but in more of a prestigious place with a very low crime rate and zero hassle.
“With a lot of developers, it feels like it’s easy for them to just walk away from you, but Mark Fotheringham made our life a lot easier.”
I would say to any first-time buyers like us to pick your builder carefully because there is after care needed in any new home. For me that’s where a builder earns their stripes. Mark goes above and beyond, and if there is any snagging, or I have any concerns, he answers his phone. If he isn’t available, he calls back at the next earliest convenient time. He makes sure any work is carried out in a reasonable or exceptional time frame to an exceptional standard, so you feel he’s on our side. Stewart Milne Homes isn’t working to timescales. They do have seven- and twenty-eight-day check-ins, but you don’t feel pressured. We’re out of our twenty-eight days so Mark doesn’t have to be in contact now, but he chooses to be. That’s a huge part of how we feel about our place.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because of the quality of the actual build and the fact that they cater for and include things like the kitchen and vanity mirrors. You get a lot included for the price, which is very, very good specification.

“Seeing how the street has come together since we moved in, we’re even more pleasantly surprised than I thought we would be.”
“From the quality of the finish to the way it looks, everything appears fresh and well done.”
The aesthetic and features on the development really stand out. The different styles of homes, with their varying brickwork and finishing, all add to the general look of the whole development. I also love the landscaping and layout of the streets. On my street they added areas of grass with rows of trees in front of the houses. That helps to add to the wideness of the roads, and it makes the aesthetic of it very nice.
“Dargavel Village feels really rural, even though we’re close to everything we would need.”
It’s really convenient to be near the motorway links and retail shops, while enjoying the feel of the development. It’s well landscaped and we have easy access to lovely walks in the countryside. I’m enjoying it very much.
I’d definitely recommend Stewart Milne Homes...
...because the house is beautiful, and you can tell they look different from other houses with other builders. They look in a different class. It’s a friendly development and a good build for families; that’s ideal for us.

When I moved in, Dargavel Village was still work in progress. I never thought I would move into a house on a building site, but I have had absolutely no issues. If I need to get hold of anyone or need something fixed Stewart Milne Homes’ staff are right there. The builders also finish sharp at night, so it doesn’t impact our lives at all. There are three different house builders in the area and Stewart Milne Homes was the only one incorporating lots of landscaping and greenery which was very important to me.

We love the look of our home, inside and out. The quality of the build has a very high specification. It’s in the fittings and fixtures, in the kitchen and elsewhere. The doors are solid wood and the tiles are expensive looking and luxury. Having new appliances, a good number of bathrooms and efficient heating is great. I also like that every house isn’t the same. There are variations in the bricks used and different colour doors, so there’s a mix of styles and sizes. We’re in a horse shoe shape looking onto a green, so we don’t look directly onto other houses. There are a lot of walks around the development, there’s a particular one around the estate that takes you to the old village and further on into the countryside. We also have all the conveniences within walking distance, like restaurants, and we can easily catch a train in the station next to us.

I love the amount of greenery and landscaping in Dargavel Village, the overall finish is beautiful. Stewart Milne Homes specifically kept the old large trees on the site, it’s quite relaxing listening to the leaves blowing in the wind. About a two-minute walk from us, directly across from our house, is a lake lined with trees. In the opposite direction there are lovely fields where I like to take my dogs. The whole place has a real countryside feel to it. They haven’t only thought about the greenery in Dargavel Village, but the brickwork as well. There are a lot of boundary walls which most new builds just don’t have. They really add to the quality of the finish. I like the nice paving stones they have used and there are lots of little benches where you can stop and take a seat.
