We love the look of our home, inside and out. The quality of the build has a very high specification. It’s in the fittings and fixtures, in the kitchen and elsewhere. The doors are solid wood and the tiles are expensive looking and luxury. Having new appliances, a good number of bathrooms and efficient heating is great. I also like that every house isn’t the same. There are variations in the bricks used and different colour doors, so there’s a mix of styles and sizes. We’re in a horse shoe shape looking onto a green, so we don’t look directly onto other houses. There are a lot of walks around the development, there’s a particular one around the estate that takes you to the old village and further on into the countryside. We also have all the conveniences within walking distance, like restaurants, and we can easily catch a train in the station next to us.
I love the amount of greenery and landscaping in Dargavel Village, the overall finish is beautiful. Stewart Milne Homes specifically kept the old large trees on the site, it’s quite relaxing listening to the leaves blowing in the wind. About a two-minute walk from us, directly across from our house, is a lake lined with trees. In the opposite direction there are lovely fields where I like to take my dogs. The whole place has a real countryside feel to it. They haven’t only thought about the greenery in Dargavel Village, but the brickwork as well. There are a lot of boundary walls which most new builds just don’t have. They really add to the quality of the finish. I like the nice paving stones they have used and there are lots of little benches where you can stop and take a seat.
Being quite central to Aberdeen was a massive attraction of Charleston Cove. I wanted to be close to the city centre, but not close to the hustle and bustle. Everything is right on the doorstep and there’s a great community feel. There are quite a lot of modern shops together with a little Sainsbury’s, a hairdressers and a home shop. Charleston Cove has a New England feel to it; the wooden frontage on the houses with the stylish entrance doors make this place look different and modern.
Everything has been absolutely fantastic, from the part exchange and not having to sell our house, to moving in. It was just so easy from start to finish. There was no selling cost and there was only one viewing before my old house was sold. We’ve never had a brand new home before and we love having a new build. We could pick our kitchen, en-suite and carpets. With different designs of houses and a lot of well-maintained landscaped areas, it’s very attractive here. Some houses have been built partly with wooden cladding and others have a traditional brick design, but the grey colour detail makes everything come together. We’re far enough away from town, but still close enough to easily get there.
Den View is very modern, homely and family oriented. The whole site is bright and the white and the houses look clean and fresh. It has an open, green layout that’s safe; I can always see where my little one is playing.
We’re in the city but we feel like we’re in the country. We’ve got the best of both worlds here. We have the essentials like shops within walking distance. There’s a leisure complex that you can walk to in five to ten minutes. In the complex there’s an Asda, a hairdresser and a community centre. They’ve got mother and toddler groups, fitness groups and a church. It’s a busy little village. There are heaps of other places for us to walk and cycle to as a family. It’s one of those little villages where people can use woodland trails going off in different directions. We’ve been exploring ever since we got here. The cycle path going down to the park is convenient too and it’s all great to help you stay fit. Down a way there’s a little farm and our little one likes to see the sheep and cows. Living in a city before we never had the opportunity to do something like that.
There are beautiful views of sloping land and you don’t feel enclosed by lots of houses. We live on the outskirts of the village where we have the reservoir and woodland on our doorstep, which is great because we have 2 dogs and I like to go walking and running.
There seems to be a very good community feel here and this has been helped by the way they’ve designed the Douglas Meadow. It’s welcoming driving in – you don’t drive straight into a mass of houses; there’s a play area and a nice, green park area, so it feels open and spacious. They’ve managed to retain a lot of existing trees around the edges, so it doesn’t feel stark. The design, layout and quality of the houses here is excellent, and they are all in a nice, soft, green space.
We’re in a three-bedroom semi, which from the front doesn’t look very big, but when you come inside you can see they’ve made the best use of the space. They’ve designed the inside very well, especially the nice landing with the rooms coming off it. Our friends came to visit us at the weekend and they were quite amazed, saying it had been done especially well. We’ve downsized quite considerably and the space really attracted us to the house.
I love the spaciousness of Hunter’s Meadow and how it fits in with the landscape. As you enter, the feeling you get is that it’s not cramped. It’s appealing to look at, and with the way it’s been laid out no one is on top of each other. The town is conveniently in walking distance and has everything I need on a day to day basis; the local area is lovely.
We have the Highlands in the north and Edinburgh in the south, so we’re bang in the middle of both worlds. There’s beautiful scenery around us with rolling hills. The village is a beautiful place. There’s a good school here, with good shops and it’s convenient with the supermarkets in Perth. You can have anything you need in under twenty minutes.
